An Open Letter to Ralph Nader
Dear Ralph,
I will leave aside our disagreement over whether or not you should be running. You have every right to run, and I would never want to take that away from you.
But I would hope that you would campaign with dignity and class. Calling Senator John Edwards "a sniveling coward" because you disagree with his debating tactics is just shameful. The Kerry-Edwards campaign has been, to my mind, relentlessly attacking this administration. If they resorted to the kind of desperate language you used against Senator Edwards yesterday, it would turn voters off- and Kerry/Edwards is in this election to win.
Next time you come to my state, please try and conduct at least a minimally appealing campaign.
Sincerely,
Howard Megdal

Liberal radio
I am someone who could never get enough of Al Franken's humor- the idea that he'll be on for three hours a day is fantastic, in my opinion.
As a format? Franken is paired with a lady who isn't particularly funny, and does a decent job of staying out of the way. She seems superfluous- what I have read is that all of the new on-air talent will be paired with radio veterans- my guess is that this won't last.
Bob Kerrey was very interesting- now Michael Moore is being Michael Moore. I am interested to see if this catches on- the more entertaining these shows are, the more credibility they'll have to deal with issues. I believe this is how the Daily Show has succeeded- it's a good path to follow.
I wish them all the luck in the world. comments

Happy Anniversary, Iraq
Couldn't they have just gotten us a tie?
Or
Mt. Lebanon Hotel special: Half off
Or
Q: Want to stay at the Mt. Lebanon Hotel?
A: That hole in the ground?
What else can I say- this has been a gruesome year in Iraq, and this type of attack doesn't make me optimistic for year two. comments

Naming names
This is about the silliest controversy ever. "Quick, name names of world leaders that back you so we can punish them!" Are people actually upset about this? Unlikely. It's just time Kerry spends not attacking the president. Take it for what it is. comments

Wow, misleading headline
Headline on Netscape: US INtel: Osmam running as troops close in
Headline on actual story: Sources: Bin Laden may be eyeing move
Quick discussion question- does a bin Laden capture win Bush the election? I'll go with no, assuming the economy is where it is, or worse- and jow close to the election it happens. I know that sounds like a hedge, but such is the uncertainty of politics. I can't just randomly set a date, and then recklessly pusure it for my own political gain in the face of evidence contrary to my position. comments
